What is Higher Level Skills?

The Higher Level Skills program is a Queensland Government initiative which provides a government subsidy to support eligible individuals to access one subsidised training place in selected certificate IV and above qualifications, or priority skill sets.

The aim is to assist individuals to gain the higher level skills required to secure employment or career advancement in priority industries or to transition to university. Employers may also be able to access training to address workforce development needs.

What Courses are Available under Higher Level Skills?

HANMAC has been approved to offer the following qualifications under the Higher Level Skills program:

  • CHC42015 Certificate IV in Community Services.
  • CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support.
  • CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability.
  • CHC43415 Certificate IV in Leisure and Health.
  • CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services.
Am I eligible for Higher Level Skills?

To be eligible for the Higher Level Skills program a participant must:

  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, an Australian permanent Resident or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency who has a permanent Queensland address
  • Not have completed or hold a certificate IV or higher qualification in any field, not including qualifications completed at school and foundations skills training.
  • Not be currently enrolled in, or studying towards the completion of a Certificate IV or higher level qualification.
  • No longer be at school
  • Be over the age of 15

A number of qualifications offered under Higher Level Skills funding require students to be employed in the relevant industry as a prerequisite. For further information on if a qualification requires employment as a prerequisite, visit the qualification’s page under the courses tab or contact HANMAC.

How is training delivered?

Training delivery differs between qualifications. Further information on how a qualification is delivered can be found on the relevant qualification’s page on this website.

Do I have to pay fees under the Higher Level Skills program?

Students are required to pay a student contribution fee under the Higher Level Skills program. Information on fees and charges can be found on the fees page or relevant qualification’s page of this website.
