CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of settings who provide person centred support to people with disabilities in a manner that achieves independence, self-reliance, wellbeing and community participation. Workers in this role will be required to work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.

Qualification information

To successfully complete this qualification students must complete 14 units of competency.

  • CHCDIS002 Follow established person-centred behaviour support
  • CHCDIS005 Develop and provide person-centred service response
  • CHCDIS007 Facilitate the empowerment of people with disability
  • CHCDIS008 Facilitate community participation and inclusion
  • CHCDIS009 Facilitate ongoing skills development using a person-centred approach
  • CHCDIS010 Provide person-centred services to people with disability with complex needs
  • CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
  • CHCLEG003 Manage legal and ethical compliance
  • HLTAAP001 Recognise healthy body systems
  • HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care

Work placement

To successfully complete this qualification students must complete a mandatory 120 hour work placement.

Course requirements and recommendations

Requirements:

  • National police check (must cover working with vulnerable people)
  • Working with children blue card
  • comprehend, communicate and complete assessment tasks in English
  • Have the ability to complete manual tasks including bending, pushing, pulling, lifting.

Highly recommended:

  • Current influenza vaccination
  • COVID-19 vaccination

Full fee – $2940

Higher Level Skills co-contribution fee – $350 non concessional / $280 concessional

National police check (if completed through HANMAC) $47.15

Funding option

The Higher Level Skills program, funded by the Queensland Government, may be available for Queensland based students enrolling into this qualification. Eligibility criteria applies. Enrolling students must be existing workers in the Disability sector, which includes parents and unpaid carers of NDIS participants, and hold the Certificate III in Individual Support or its superseded qualification to access funding for this qualification.
